Founded in 1998 on the principle that developers must consider their impact on bio-diversity, conservation of resources, and future generations, Sustainable Properties saved older well built homes in the path of development. Thirty eight homes were relocated between 1998 and 2006. Of these, twelve were renovated by Sustainable Properties and the rest were sold to families and investors who were able to renovate them for much less than a newly constructed home.

Today, Sustainable Properties seeks to create maximally livable, clustered communities close to urban centers, that are affordable, energy independent, resource conserving, and easy to maintain.
